A. No, equipment is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis to all registered for either the Beginning or Intermediate class. While there should be plenty of fencing jackets for all sizes, in the event that equipment might be short, a thick and heavy long sleeve sweatshirt can be substituted.
A. New fencers who have completed both the Beginning and Intermediate classes are invited to join Baited Blade. Existing fencers with outside experience are welcomed to visit the club, and membership will be decided on by the Head Instructor.
A. Membership is only $25 a year. After the intial $40 joining fee (which includes membership for your first year.) Dues are paid each January. Membership dues can be given to and renewed by an Instructor.
A. Members are allowed to openly fence during the days that Baited Blade has classes (as space allows). Members can borrow equipment from the club (see next question), as well as take private lessons and register for workshops. Members are given their own profile on the website and access to the club's online resources.
A. Members are free to borrow club equipment during class time, however participants in ongoing classes are given priority and you may have to relinquish your equipment if there is not enough to go around. Fencers are highly encouraged to purchase their own equipment once they become a member.
A. French Foil, French Epee and the Sabre are taught and used by fencers, along with other weapons such as combat sabre, small sword, rapier, rapier & dagger, and great stick. Italian weapons may also be used, but are not taught. Pistol grip weapons are not used or allowed in the club.
